Prcanj flourished during the seventeen and eighteen century due to the very strong naval industry.
By the end of the sixteenth century the Venetian Republic government has decided to allocate Prcanj captains great responsibility due to its tremendous skillfulness at the sea, to transport the national Venetian mail on their ships from Venice to Kotor and sometimes to Istanbul. This was the first regular post traffic established in the Adriatics, which came into force in 1625.
Most notable peace of sacral architecture in Prcanj is Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in baroque style, and due to its unique features was listed under the protection of UNESCO in the territory of Kotor natural and cultural heritage site.
